Join us for a Walk to Wellbeing in the Simonside Hills

West Tynedale Health Walk Leaders have designed and are leading walks suitable for people wanting an easy introduction to the inspirational landscapes of Northumberland National Park.

Enjoy a walk through forest and moorland tracks to the summit of Simonside, thought to be a sacred mountain in Neolithic times. Take lunch on the summit next to a Bronze Age burial mound, casting your eyes across Northumberland’s beautiful Coquetdale valley.

Gaze on the granite batholith that is Northumberland’s highest hill, … A walk not to be missed!

Getting there: A 15 – 20 min drive from Rothbury Village. Take the B6342 south out of Rothbury and at the national park boundary cairn take a sharp right on to the forest track. The Forestry Commission Car Park is about 1.5 miles on the left. Remember: Postcodes are vague in rural areas.

Booking advisable. If you have not booked online, please pay on arrival at the walk start point but be advised that places are limited so it is advisable to check on availability beforehand.

Dress for changeable weather and possibly windy conditions on Simonside, and wear suitable footwear.  There will be a lunch stop.  Bring packed lunch or snacks and water.
