Wedder Leap - National Park Car Park

Take a journey over moorland hills and valleys to the top of Windy Gyle for spectacular views into Bonny Scotland.

Setting out from Wedder Leap car park we travel over Middle Hill to Uswayford and on to Davidson’s Linn waterfall. We then follow the Salter’s Road up to the Border at Hexpethgate, turning south to climb onto Windy Gyle, the third highest peak in Northumberland National Park. We return via Little Ward Law and Rowhope.

Wedder Leap – National Park Car Park

From Rothbury take the B6381 west through Thropton. At ‘Flotterton’ take the right signed ‘Alwinton’. Go through Alwinton and continue along the single track road for approx 6 miles. The car park is on the left before Barrowburn.

For those wishing to use GPS/Sat-Nav to find walk start points please note that, particularly in open-country, postcodes cover a large area, so, whilst the postcode will get you to the right general area, you will still need to follow the detailed directions to locate the actual Walk Start Point.
