Get Stuck In

This summer we are looking back to the start of National Parks and also looking forward to all the great green action that can be done to keep our National Park so special. We are celebrating 70 years of UK National Parks (1949 – 2019) and would like you to celebrate with us by getting out into your National Park!  We have a packed programme of events taking place all over Northumberland National Park; there really is something for everyone.

Lace up your boots and explore the landscape on our guided walks. Our knowledgable walk leaders will showcase some of the best-loved locations and some of our hidden gems.  New for this year is a series of photography walks where you can learn new skills. Join us in the Coquet Valley, bring your camera and learn a few tips from our expert photographer this August.

We also have a fantastic pinhole camera workshop at The Sill this June. Solarcan is a unique camera designed to produce extreme time exposures that capture the Sun’s path across the sky.

Come and learn about our amazing ecology on our Dawn Chorus Walk in May. You’ll be able to tune in to the cacophony of spring birdsong with an easy early morning walk at Hareshaw Dene near Bellingham. Our Ecologist Gill Thompson will be your expert guide so no need to be an expert birder. This time last year we heard a staggering 37 different birds!

Hidden Histories and New Skills

Discover the hidden histories of the National Park. You can Walk in a Volcano this April; learning all about The Cheviot, the highest point in the Park. Why not find out about the fascinating history of Catcleugh Reservoir and visit the Black House.
