Easter Educational Events

Calling all parents! If you’re looking for fun and educational experiences for the kids this half term, there are lots of activities and events happening in Northumberland National Park this May. Whether they’re interested in nature, wildlife, or simply spending time outdoors, we’re sure you’ll find something to keep them busy.

Join us at Walltown Country Park for a day packed with fun nature activities, led by Wild Intrigue, for all ages taking place on 31st May 2023

Walltown Wild Sounds Safari

Walltown Wild Sounds Safari kicks the day off at 9am. This exciting event is perfect for nature lovers who want to get up close and personal with the local wildlife. You’ll have the chance to listen to the sounds of the National Park, using a single parabolic dish and wireless headphones.

Parabolic dishes bring wild sounds 10 x closer to your ears and cancel out background noise for a clear acoustic experience. In this immersive experience you’ll learn about the different animals that call the National Park home and with some luck, you may even spot some of them in their natural habitat.

Walltown Frogs and Flapjacks

Walltown Frogs and Flapjacks takes place at 11am. On this guided ‘aquatic safari’ you will discover the Walltown ponds, and the fascinating creatures that swim, hide, hunt and morph under the water surface. But leave those swimsuits at home!

You will have the use of nets and trays to carefully explore the small (but mighty) creatures that lurk beneath the water. You’ll also get to enjoy some delicious flapjacks.
