Ranger

Northumberland National Park is a stunning expanse of natural beauty, rich in cultural heritage and biodiversity. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Ranger. As a Ranger, you will play a crucial role in the conservation and enjoyment of this unique landscape, ensuring that visitors have a memorable experience.

  • £26,873 – £29,777 per annum pro rata
  • Part time (18.5 hours per week)
  • Must be able to work weekends and bank holidays
  • Permanent
  • Based at Rothbury

You will need:

  • Good knowledge and obvious passion for Northumberland National Park
  • Formal training or experience in a ranger-based or countryside management discipline
  • Experience of working with and supervising volunteers, community groups and student placements
  • Ability to monitor and survey rights of way
  • Be able to assist with the delivery of programmes of engagement and education work including leading guided walks
  • Able to work on own initiative, alone and unsupervised
  • Ability and experience of working with school groups to deliver education sessions
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver practical maintenance tasks and projects, including the fabricating, repairing and installation of gates, stiles, signage and way marking (list not exhaustive)
  • Ability to travel to sites in order to fulfil the requirements of the role
