National Apprenticeship Week 2023

National Apprenticeship Week is a time to celebrate the opportunities and achievements that apprentices all over the UK have been a part of. It’s an important event that shows people some of the great work that apprentices do as well as the positive impact they have on communities, businesses and wider society, all while getting experience to help further their own career path.

Aiden is our Junior Digital Content Producer Apprentice here at Northumberland National Park, here’s a little bit about his apprenticeship journey so far.

“Before joining the team here at Northumberland National Park Authority, I was honestly pretty nervous. The only job I’d ever had was in a small village café. But I had passion for social media, graphic design and technology which gave me a big push to brush off my nerves.

Despite that though, working with everyone here has been an absolute joy and I am so lucky to have the opportunity to not only work locally in a position I enjoy, but to work with such a supportive team who are willing to help me further myself at every possible opportunity, and offer great solutions whenever I need help which I couldn’t be any more thankful for.

Now I’m heading towards the halfway mark of my apprenticeship, and I feel like I’ve progressed so much since I started out. I’ve learnt a lot about graphic design, video and cinematography, and social media, through a combination of my college work and experiences from my employment. My personal development and the training I’ve received has also helped me realise what it means to be part of a team and how I can improve to progress my professional career.

I won’t say it’s been easy, but it’s been a fun learning experience and I’m very excited for all the good things to come as I continue through my apprenticeship.”
