The heart of the National Park

Redesdale is in the very heart of the National Park. Nicknamed Wild Redesdale, birds and animals thrive on Otterburn Ranges and Whitelee Moor National Nature Reserve and Catcleugh Reservoir.

Explore the area’s ancient capital, Elsdon, or head back into history with the Roman ruins in High Rochester. It’s so peaceful now, it’s hard to believe that Scottish and English troops fought it out in Otterburn.

Wherever you go, you’re sure to find a warm welcome and some tasty local food.

Northumberland National Park is a key partner in the delivery of the Revitalising Redesdale Landscape Partnership scheme, which is celebrating and protecting the rich cultural heritage, landscape and wildlife of Redesdale.
