A wild and wonderful waterfall in the north of the National Park

This spectacular waterfall tumbles 18 metres down a rock face to the plunge pool below. Take a walk along the burn and see the ‘bottomless’ plunge pot, beneath the tall spout in a pretty glade that is ideal for picnics.

Linhope Spout is located inside the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park.

Find Red Squirrels

Red squirrels have been spotted here, especially on the forest floor.

Keep looking for these lively, cute, little furry characters, who are fighting their corner in this part of the country, where their grey cousins have taken over much of the rest of the UK.

The best time to see them is in spring and autumn when there are fewer leaves on the trees.  You can also try Holystone woods and Simonside (Harwood) forest in your search for our little friend. Look for nibbled pine cones and cracked hazel nuts
