Find out about Wooler

The town of Wooler is a natural gateway to the Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park. As the leading shopping centre in the area, it has a reputation for friendly, helpful service.

Just 15 miles from the beautiful Northumbrian coastline, you can also discover Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands from here. Wooler is an ideal base for walking, cycling and exploring the Cheviot Hills. St Cuthbert’s Way, the long-distance route which links Melrose in the Scottish Borders to Lindisfarne, passes through the town. The hills around Wooler are peppered with ancient hillforts – particularly Yeavering Bell and the College Valley.
