The route is west from Alwinton on the road to join the bridleway to Shilmoor, then north to Copper Snout and Saughy Hill to join Clennell Street back to Alwinton. There are wonderful views of the Cheviot range and the walk takes in the area of ‘illicit whisky stills’, ancient trade routes into Scotland and the Border Reivers.

Dress for changeable weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for the break.
Dogs are not permitted at this event.

From Rothbury take the B6381 west through Thropton. At ‘Flotterton’ take the right signed ‘Alwinton’. Go through Alwinton and the car park is on the right
