A pleasant walk from Simonburn Church out along Castle Lane. The walk west, up the bridleway to Bleaklaw is always popular. Through woods and across fields and moorland affording great views down to The North Tyne, over burns, and past isolated farm buildings. In parts it can feel very remote, when it’s not. The homeward leg follows the Hopeshield Burn past the derelict Castle and back to the village , we can share coffee and cake on the hills or at the end as you please.
Dress for changeable weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for the break.
Dogs are not permitted at this event.

Take the B6320 from Chollerford towards Bellingham.After 4 miles turn left to Simonburn (0.5 mile). The car park is to the left of the church.
