Kirknewton Village Hall

A chance to see the Cheviot goats on this walk from Kirknewton to visit the Anglo Saxon site of ‘Ad Gefrin’, before a steep climb to the top of Yeavering Bell hillfort, with fantastic views.

Starting at Kirknewton and taking in St Gregory’s hillfort en-route to visit the Anglo Saxon site of ‘Ad Gefrin’ (at the hill of the goats). There is then a steep climb to the top of Yeavering Bell, the largest hillfort in Northumberland with over 130 hut circles. Return to Kirknewton is on part of the St Cuthbert’s Way.

Dress for changeable weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for the break.
Dogs are not permitted at this event.

Going north past Wooler on the A697, turn left at Akeld onto the B6351. At Kirknewton village park alongside the village hall. Parking Charges May Apply.
