The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre

Take inspiration from our Noctalgia exhibition, a tribute to the visible stars, creatures, and plants that thrive under Northumberland’s pristine dark skies, and create your own silk shaded moth.

During this hand embroidery workshop with textile artist Louis Goult, you will create your own unique moth using a silk shading technique, which is often referred to as painting with threads.
The first part of the workshop will be all about transferring a moth design to your chosen fabric. We’ll then move on to combining different colours of threads together to create a realistic moth that you can turn into a framed piece of artwork, wall hanging or greetings card.
This workshop is suitable for people of all levels of embroidery experience, with all materials included.

This class costs £35 per person, and lasts 3 hours.
Included with your ticket:

  • Free Parking
  • 15% off voucher for our shop or café
  • Light Refreshments during workshop
