The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre

We will be joined by staff in costume from Ancient Britain, who will lead a Prehistory Session. Learn all about life in the Stone Age through replica handling objects and cave art.

This session is open to anybody interested in joining our Sill: Hadrian’s Wall and Uplands, Young Archaeologist’s Club. For this first session, parents and guardians are asked to remain for the session. Families are most welcome to take part.

The Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC) is the only UK-wide club where 8–16 year olds can participate in real archaeology and discover why it matters. If you want to become a professional archaeologist in the future or just feel like taking up an amazing new hobby, YAC is the right place for you!

Our YAC members take part in all sorts of fantastic, hands-on activities, such as excavation, working with artefacts, visiting historical sites and undertaking experimental archaeology. We explore all eras of human history, with a specific focus on the archaeology of Northumberland National Park.
